Gardening Club
We are delighted that two parent volunteers run our Gardening Club every Monday after school. The Groovy Gardeners of Sissinghurst School ...
We’re not experts, we don’t know,
We just like to dig and sow!
Chuck it in the soil and see what grows,
We just like to have a go!
Thank you to our sponsors for items kindly donated to get us going - like soil, plants and seeds: Henhurst Farm Shop Flowers For All Occasions Charity Farm Countrystore
See below for what we do each week. In future sessions we need to …
- Harvest the lavender
- Find the wormery, kindly donated by one of our parents last year
- Plant bulbs to flower at Christmas
- Plant new strawberry plants so they are established before winter sets in. Have you any strawberry plants you could take some cuttings from for us?
- Collect troughs from front, ready to be returned when looking happier
- Measure our planting space
- Plan where to grow plants
- Get cuttings from Fuchsias
- Sow winter lettuces inside
- Grow alpines in the greenhouse for our rockery
- Plant spring flowering bulbs in the polytunnel
- Grow winter flowering shrubs
- Sow winter pansies
- Add organic matter to soil
- Make compost bin for autumn debris (but nothing diseased or woody!)
- Clean the greenhouse
Should you come across anyone who no longer needs any of the items listed below, we are gratefully accepting donations:
- Soil
- Water butts
- Trolleys to carry water from butts around the school
